    Cook / Kitchen Staff

    McLean Beef Café is looking to hire a dedicated and reliable cook who can make our menu items. Our Restaurant and catering business is growing and we are needing additional kitchen staff to support this growth. McLean Beef currently serves breakfast and lunch five days a week and have started a Thursday evening Steak Night with hopes of expanding to more evening meals and Saturdays. In addition, we want to expand catering services at events and at the local convention center.  

    McLean Beef is seeking an individual who can follow the instruction of the Kitchen Manager and working with the team to serve our customers with the highest quality meals. The candidate who can demonstrate exceptional time management and ensure that all the duties are completed in a timely manner will be considered.  The top candidates will be invited to “a day in the life” to come work alongside our team so that you can “interview” us and we learn more about you and your skills and personality.

    Kitchen Staff Responsibilities

    • Properly clean and sanitize all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
    • Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, dishes.
    • Assisting the other kitchen staff with the preparation of meal ingredients, which include washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruit, vegetables, and meat.
    • Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
    • Organizing and correctly storing food supplies.
    • Cooling food and heating food correctly.
    • Measuring out meal ingredients according to a recipe.
    • Collaborating with Kitchen Manager and other kitchen staff to provide the best experience for our customers.
    • Serving food and drinks to our customers. Ringing in retail and meals in the POS system.
    • Maintaining the pantry, kitchen, freezer, refrigerator, small freezer, and large cooler and notify Kitchen Manager of needs.
    • Baking fresh rolls, cookies, and other meal items.
    • Cleaning dining room tables, chairs, trash cans, windows, and counters.                                                      

    Skills and Qualifications

    • In-depth knowledge of various cooking techniques
    • Working knowledge of food safety and hygiene protocols
    • ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
    • Strong work ethic and team spirit
    • Ability to stand extended periods of time. Be able to lift 50 lbs. or more and safely lift, bend, squat, and clean lower equipment to the floor. Ability to work in hot and cold areas.
    • Two or more years of experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry
    • Working knowledge of mathematical principles such ad ratios and portions.
    • Excellent communication skills.
